On 04/30/2014 at approximately 1400 hours, the Darien Police responded to a robbery at People’s United Bank located in the Goodwives Shopping Plaza at 25 Old Kings Hwy North. The suspect entered the bank using an open umbrella to shield himself from vestibule and ATM cameras. Once entry was made, the suspect threw down the umbrella, pulled a silver, long-barreled revolver from his waistband and then jumped over the counter. The suspect first engaged the drive-thru window teller by threatening her with the weapon and demanding “all of the money.” The suspect then engaged the second teller in a similar fashion and again jumped the counter. As he exited the bank he said “Have a nice day” and was last seen running to the rear of the shopping center. The suspect spent less than one minute inside of the bank. The shopping center is adjacent to I-95 southbound separated only by railroad tracks and a wooded area. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’3”, wearing a dark colored ski mask, black gloves, a navy hooded parka, black cargo pants, and wearing very distinctive white and blue sneakers. The suspect placed all of the money into a leopard print bag and left the umbrella behind. A vehicle was not observed by victims or witnesses.
